Key Roles Of Staff

Our Staff

In our setting we maintain the ratio of adults to children. This is a legal requirement laid down in the Early Years Foundation Stage, Welfare Requirements. We also have volunteer parent helpers and students where possible to complement these ratios. This helps us to:

  • Give time and attention to each child;
  • Talk with the children about their interests and activities;
  • Help children to experience and benefit from the activities we provide;
  • Allow the children to explore and be adventurous in safety.

Allison Jones – Manager

Allison moved to Corringham to join the church 33 years ago. She is married to Ian and they have 3 children and grandchildren. Alison has worked in the Pre-School for 25 years. She qualified in childcare in 2000 and became Manager in 2005. She has a passion for working with children and their families and she receives great pleasure from seeing an unconfident 2 year old, blossom into a confident 4 year old ready for school. It has been a great achievement to see the Pre School receive the Ofsted grade of “Outstanding” in 2011, 2015 & 2022.

Pre School Manager

A typical nursery manager will have an NNEB, NVQ3, BTEC or equivalent qualification in childcare. This is a minimum requirement and both our managers have achieved degree level. He/she will have at least 3 years’ post-qualification experience, and in almost all cases many more, including a minimum of 2 years’ managerial experience. Perhaps much of her experience will have been with Treasure Children Forever Nursery, or it may be that she has joined from outside the group, bringing fresh ideas with her.

The Nursery Manager is responsible for the training and discipline of the staff, monitoring quality standards, overseeing the planning of the children’s activities according to the Treasure Children Forever Curriculum, and all other aspects of the day-to-day management of the nursery. In a nutshell, she is the person with overall responsibility for the well-being and safety of your child. She is always available to answer your concerns about the nursery, so don’t hesitate to call her if you have a question.

Room Leader

The Pre-school is divided into separate rooms for 2 – 3 yr olds and 3 – 4yr olds. In each one, a Room Leader takes responsibility for the day-to-day safety, security and well-being of the children in that room. She creates a stimulating and attractive environment, and oversees the children’s activities which have been planned with the help of her team. She will have an NNEB, BTEC, NVQ3 or equivalent qualification in childcare and plenty of experience. The Room Leader observes your child’s progress, and puts together regular progress reports.

Pre School Practitioner

The Nursery Officer works as part of a team, organising activities and interacting closely with the children. She feeds and changes babies, shares meals with the older children, and holds a shared responsibility for the health, safety and happiness of all the children in her care. She will have an NNEB, NVQ2 or 3, BTEC or equivalent qualification in childcare, coupled with previous experience.

Pre School Assistant

A Nursery Assistant is our only unqualified member of staff. She is gaining childcare experience and may be studying to gain her qualifications. She will have been selected for her ability to understand and interact with children, and her enthusiasm for learning and developing within the Pre-School. While she brings youth and enthusiasm to the Pre School, she is carefully supervised by the more experienced staff to ensure that your child benefits from only the highest quality care in line with Treasure Children Forever Pre-School guidelines.

Key Worker

Our Pre-School operate a ‘key worker’ scheme, whereby each child is allocated to a certain member of staff. That member of staff will take a special interest in your child, and will liaise with you to help you understand your child’s routines and to ensure that your child’s needs are recognised and fulfilled.
